Last night Coach Duggs and his #1 ranked Tennessee team rolled in to College Station for a road game against unranked Texas A&M.
Duggs whisperer Muj was absent from the sidelines, with Billy Football stepping in and playing the role of Passing Game coordinator.
The game got off to a bumpy start for Duggs with Tennessee failing to convert on 4th and 1 from their own 29 yard line on the first drive of the game.
Texas A&M capitalized with a 20 yard TD run by running back Kareem Palmer.
7-0 A&M.
Tennessee responded on their next drive with an onslaught of Jazz Owens and Tiny Scoops runs, capped off by a 24 yard TD pass from Stefan Cheah to Owens.
7-7.
Duggs’ new and improved Tennessee defense forced a quick 3-and-out from A&M as the 1st quarter came to a close.
Tennessee started the 2nd quarter strong with a clinical TD drive, mixing in both the run and the pass, ending with an Owens 6 yard TD run.
14-7 Tennessee.
Tennessee’s defense forced another 3-and-out from star QB Tremaine Mendoza and the rest of A&M’s offense, with 2 straight sacks and a QB hit on 3rd down to force an incompletion.
For the 2-minute drill to end the half, Duggs employed his “4 yards and a cloud of Duggs” offensive philosophy to a tee.
Tennessee didn’t pass the ball once on their way to taking a 21-7 lead with a 2 yard TD run from Owens right before half.
To start the second half it was starting to seem clear that A&M’s best offense was having Mendoza run the ball himself.
That was until Jake Cotton busted out for a 50 yard TD run, breaking 5 tackles on his way to the end zone.
It was reminiscent of Marshawn Lynch’s infamous “Beast Mode” run against the Saints in the 2010 NFC Wild Card game.
21-14 Duggs.
The next drive for Duggs and Co. was defined by Owens who returned the kickoff 52 yards and finished the drive off with a 3 yard TD run making it
28-14 Tennessee.
Owens had 4 touchdowns on the day, 3 rushing and 1 receiving.
Billy Football made the salacious allegation that perhaps Owens is putting SARMS in his preworkout.
At the time of writing this reporter can neither confirm nor deny that allegation.
At this point it was cruise control for Tennessee.
The 4th quarter brought some scoring but not a whole lot of drama.
A 1 yard FB dive from Tony Blount to put Tennessee up 35-14 was followed by an incredible play by Mendoza on the following drive.
Mendoza narrowly avoided a sack and launched a deep pass into the end zone to an A&M receiver whose name I did not catch.
35-21 Duggs.
Tennesee recovered an onside kick and added an exclamation point to their victory with an 8 yard TD pass from Cheah to Vincent Moltisanti to cement a final score of 42-21.
The biggest news of the night was that #4 ranked Florida ended up losing to #7 ranked South Carolina.
That gives Florida 2 losses in the SEC as opposed to Tennessee’s 1 conference loss, opening the door for Tennessee to control their own destiny on their way to a possible SEC title game birth.
Duggs will see if his #1 ranked team can continue their winning ways on the road tonight against Vandy.
