Coach Duggs played a Duggleheader this morning.
Rumor has it that Toledo won the first game against Ball State in a little bit of Morning MACtion but I wouldn’t know because I was asleep.
The 2nd game was a Toledo home game in the snow against Western Michigan.
After a defensive stop, Toledo’s first drive ended in a TD pass from QB Cade Shippley to TE Bubba Butt.
7-0 Toledo.
Western Michigan moved right down the field for an 8 play 76 yard scoring drive to knot things at 7.
7-7.
A Shippley interception that was returned to the 2 yard line led to a rushing TD for Western Michigan star RB Jamal McDowell.
14-7 Western Michigan.
Duggs and Co. responded with a clinical TD drive ending with an 18 yard TD pass from Shippley to Butt.
After a missed XP, 14-13 Western Michigan.
Western Michigan QB Corey McBride wasn’t having much of an issue moving the ball against Toledo’s defense but Western Michigan was forced to punt on their following drive.
WR Prince Fontana muffed the punt but was able to recover his own fumble.
Crisis averted.
Toledo responded right away with a 50 yard pass to RB Bam Bam Calloway.
RB Bo Hammer capped of the Toledo drive with a short TD run.
Western Michigan intercepted the 2 point conversion and returned it to the house.
19-16 Toledo.
McBride threw an interception, only for Toledo to immediately fumble, and Toledo was able to recover.
What a rollercoaster of a sequence.
A booth review ended up reversing the fumble call anyways.
Toledo ended up getting a 1 yard TD run from Bam Bam with 6 seconds left in the chat after Bam Bam got stuffed on the prior few plays.
26-16 Toledo.
Fontana opened the 2nd half with a 58 yard kickoff return to set up Toledo with amazing field position.
Shippley then found Bam Bam for a walk-in 32 yard TD reception with no Western Michigan defender touching him on the way to the endzone.
33-16 Toledo.
McBride found wide receivers Dave Silva and Robin Young on consecutive plays to build some positive momentum for Western Michigan on offense.
A 34 yard reception from TE Nate I-Forgot-His-Last-Name led to a short TD run from McBride.
33-23 Toledo.
Shippley found Bam Bam on a 50+ yard TD on their patented Shark Wheel play.
40-23 Toledo.
Western Michigan was forced to punt on their following drive.
This game is a wrap.
A barrage of rushes from Bam Bam was followed by a 26 yard rush from Shippley on a QB keeper to set the Rockets up with 1st and goal.
Toledo got stuffed on a few runs and then Ken Moore was hit and dropped a TD in the end zone.
Game over.
